Planing a destination wedding from across the country is difficult at best, but with the team that Ambrea and Chad assembled for their wedding you would never know. Every detail of the day was given just the right amount of attention, creating a wedding that was both relaxed and beautiful.

Early in the morning Ambrea and Chad were getting ready at Paradise Springs. With their entire family onsite, they were taking complete advantage of the the various cabins and homes. The mood was light hearted and the air filled with laughter. This was not going to be a stressful day or a day with worries. This was going to be Ambrea and Chad's wedding day.

Chad stood under the cover of oak trees near a pond, waiting for his bride. He was incredidbly patient, not quite nervous but instead earner for the moment when he could hold Ambrea. As she approached from out of his view, I watched a smile grow across his face as her heard her footsteps. Then in one quick moment the held each others gaze and then just held each other.

Together and arm in arm, Ambrea and Chad were greeted by a limousine to carry them to their ceremony at Glacier Point. But before that, we had to make a quick trip to Yosemite Valley for wonderfully scenic outdoor portraits.  More than any other couple I have worked with in Yosemite, the glowing look of love and excitement on their faces was real. This was their very first time into Yosemite Valley and in every direction were new awe inspiring views.

Meanwhile their family and friends began to gather at Glacier Point for the ceremony. There really is no other place on earth like Glacier Point for a wedding. The view to the canyon below and Half Dome on the other side is without description. It is a truly incredible place to begin this next stage of life. Ambrea and Chad embraced this natural beauty and each other as their guess surrounded them.

From the ceremony at Glacier Point, we returned to Paradise Springs where the Pavilion had been perfectly decorated to fit the feel of Ambrea and Chad's wedding. With a mixture of rustic and upscale styling the room looked gorgeous. Ever the football fan, Ambrea surprised Chad with one of the best groom's cakes that I have ever seen.

Of course, all of this was really just the backdrop for Ambrea and Chad's reception. It was their love and joy that made the night and set the mood of the party; instantly visible when Chad began to strut into his reception full of funk. Toasts and good cheer filled the room as everyone enjoyed each others company. Finally after a delicious dinner and dessert, the dance floor lit up in celebration of the wedding. Everyone was on the dance floor, enjoying every minute of it, but perhaps none more so than Ambrea and Chad.

Joined by their closest friends and family, Misti and Larry began their wedding day by hiking up to the top of Sentinel Dome at 8,122 feet. After the short hike, everyone stood at the top in amazement of the distant horizon. This place high atop the sierras was where they had chosen to be married. They planned an intimate destination wedding made even more intimate by the incredibly beauty. We all expected dramatic and breathtaking views at the top, but what we didn't expect were the consistently strong winds. But if you're like Misti and Larry, you don't spend your time out hiking to be scared off by a little wind.

Misti and Larry were nothing but smiles on their wedding day. They shared and incredibly honest love and beauty. It was evident that they not only want to spend the rest of their lives together, but need to. Together they stood there onto of the world, embracing the elements in every direction and each other as they promised to stand by each other for the remainder of their lives.  You could feel their honesty and love as the stared deeply into each other. It was a ceremony of simple beauty.

Moments later after vows and rings had been exchanged, Misti and Larry stood together as husband and wife. They celebrated under the blue sky with their loved ones before a few photographs together. Most of their guests had never been to a place such as Sentinel Dome before and couldn't get enough of it. Although we were not on top for very long, it was a magical time and the gorgeous three hundred and sixty degree views only emphasized that fact.

After a short while we began the journey back down the dome. Every direction we looked turned there was more and more dramatic scenery as the sun raced into the horizon. Towering pine trees making their home in slick granite and oaks sitting in the banks of creeks all testified to the beauty of this place. We spent only a short amount of time together before they joined their loved ones once again for dinner at the Narrow Guage Inn, but their love filled every moment and every photograph.

I only spent a handful of hours with Krista and Jonathan on their wedding day, and quite frankly, it's amazing how much happened in that short amount of time. They are both deeply in love with each other and diving headfirst, arm in arm, into the rest of their lives together. There really is no other way. Working with such great people, the time seemed to fly by.

Krista and Jonathan gathered their family and guests for a morning ceremony at Glacier Point. Every time I go to Glacier I am left in awe; it really has to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Krista was running a little be late to the ceremony, revealing Jonathan's pure excitement to start this new chapter in life.

As her father walked her towards the man she was about to marry, the entire amphitheater was filled with love and excitement. You could feel it coming from the faces of everyone there. Of course, the real love and excitement was coming from Krista and Jonathan. During their ceremony they were only smiles. They stood there, seemingly at the top of the world, sharing the story of their love in front of their loved ones with a kiss as the final punctuation mark.

After taking in the view for a short time, their friends and family began the trip back down to the valley below. Krista and Jonathan rode with me, making a few very quick stops on our way to the reception. We did not have time t make the normal trip around Yosemite that I often do, so every shot had to count. Still what we were able to create together amazes me. In the two minutes we had at Tunnel View we created what has to be one of my favorite photographs from this location - all because of Krista and Jonathan. Love will do that.

Probably only a stones throw from their ceremony at Glacier Point (but some 3200 feet below) they had a beautiful reception in the Pavilion at Curry Village. It was actually the first reception that I have photographed in the Pavilion and I hope that it will not be the last. The modern woodwork of the room sits perfectly surrounded by oaks just outside of the large windows, creating a truly unique place.

Krista and Jonathan entered the room and went straight into their first dance. They held each other and moved as one around the dance floor. It seemed like the perfect conclusion to the story that began only a few hours earlier, when they first saw each other from a distance, almost giddy with excitement.

It was very early in the morning when we arrived at Susan and David's room at Tenaya Lodge. Somehow, they managed to be getting ready for the huge day ahead of them in the very same room, but all without seeing each other. How is that possible?

Once David was dressed and ready, he headed downstairs to wait for his bride. They wanted to have a moment to themselves when they would first see each other and bride and groom on their wedding day. And so he waited, not too long, but long enough for me to soak in the meaning of the day... until that moment when the woman soon-to-be-his-wife tapped him on his shoulder and sent the rest of the day in motion.

Seemingly moments later we were transported from Tenaya Lodge all the way up to Glacier Point for the wedding ceremony. Standing at the top of Glacier Point, it's hard to imagine a wedding ceremony that could not be emotional. You're right there, at the top of the world; deep canyons and waterfalls below, the sky ripped with clouds above and right beside you almost close enough to touch, is Half Dome. It's a magical place. It's also the place that Susan and David, surrounded by their friends and family exchanged their vows and promised their love to each other.

Shortly after the ceremony we went out on our own little adventure hiking up the nearby Sentinel Dome. We climbed up above the tree line and on top of a granite planet. I love the way the photographs took on an equally dramatic look to match the dramatic landscape. After a short while of enjoying the 360 degree views, we headed back down to the car ad started to drive back to Tenaya Lodge, making a few more adventurous stops - somehow even stumbling into a pioneer reenactment.

Back at Tenaya Lodge in the Ponderosa Room, the handwork of Roshel from AddyRose became evident. The room was decorated beautifully. Earthy flowers were centered on the tables and custom made reusable drink containers were awaiting each guest. For dinner, everyone had a choice between fresh fajitas were grilled up on the spot, or equally fresh paninis. They even had a sundae bar, complete with fresh waffle cones and every topping known to man. Purely delicious.

Everyone enjoyed a slow paced dinner with conversation. So many family members and great friends to visit with kept Susan and David bouncing from table to table, never wanting to eave the good people they found themselves with.

Then suddenly dinner was behind us and the dance floor in front of us. I must say, I have never really seen a bride attack the dance floor the way that Susan did. Every song, she had to be out there, dancing her heart out with her loved ones. Outside on the patio, the stars passed over the pines slowly painting the sky with color not he first night that Susan and David held each other as husband and wife.

It was a perfectly sunny day in Yosemite when Sarah and Michael were married. When I arrived at her room in the Ahwahnee, Carol and Amy from Bellissimo were already there working their magic. With a jaw-dropping view across the valley and to Yosemite Falls, her room has be one of the best that the Ahwahnee offers.

And that is exactly the reason that Sarah and Michael came to Yosemite to marry. They met each other while hiking through Utah. Instantly they shared a mutual love of the outdoors and it was not long before a relationship developed. They share a healthy sense of humor and realistic outlook on the world, so much so that I would swear that have been together much longer than they really have.

As soon as they were both ready for the day, they saw each other for the first time that day on the hotel's patio. Nerves washed away as they held each other for the first time. From there we took a short tour through the valley, exploring meadows and overlooks. Sarah had the classical beauty to her in ever shot and Michael kept his sense of humor present at every stop.

On the wedding lawn their guests gathered for the ceremony. Once everyone was seated and read, Sarah came out from a grove of trees and walked across the lawn toward the man that would be her husband. There they stood together for the first time, with the sun slipping behind the valley walls, as husband and wife. With the early evening light and emotional vows, it was a magical ceremony.

There reception was in the Ahwahnee's Mural Room; a small intimate room that perfectly fit the small party of friends and family. We all enjoyed a delicious four course meal and enjoyed conversation around the room. There was no dancing or anything else to busy up the night, just good times with good people.

The entire day had a very unique feel to it, one that I can only attribute to Sarah and Michael's wonderful personalities and love of life. As we traveled through the park they shared a true sense of wonder and awe enjoyed together. Everything was there for them to enjoy with their guests. Sarah and Michael's wedding day seemed so much less about them and so much more for them; their perfect wedding in Yosemite.

Spoken by the Mother of the Bride, the pictures truly do capture the sheer majesty of the whole day. It is wonderful to relive each moment over and over in these fantastic photos. We were so fortunate to have Patrick who worked his magic in every shot. Patrick you are a true artist and I could not be happier with the beautiful service you provided to us. The wedding memories will be treasured forever.

Sarah and Michael you are a stunning couple and are going to have a fabulous life together.

It was nice dining with you Patrick. You are truely an artist and a very interesting man. You have started my son and his wife off in class and style. Thank you. Glen Cannon
