For the past year and half I have been proudly supporting A Practical Wedding. Their site is devoted to living life and having a wedding in that order. When I first stumbled across their site, I knew this was something special. Meg Keene the sites founder has poured her heart and soul into it and it shows. It's become an amazing resource and place for important discussions.

Recently they added on a vendor directory and a sanity pledge for their supporters. It's a great idea and a perfect summary of what I love so much about their site. You can view our entry in the vendor directory here. There are amazing vendors from all of the world in there and the best part is that all of the vendors have taken the same pledge, so you know what you are getting.

If you haven't visited A Practical Wedding, I encourage you to do so now. They bring a much needed and often missing realistic and healthy view point to weddings. Plus, they are just plain good people. If you like what's going on over there, make sure to check out Meg Keene's new book due out in January.

Way back before their wedding, I sat down with Karra and Jared to talk about how we would showcase the art from their wedding. We quickly decided on an album and they even picked out the perfect leather right there on the spot. There is just nothing like the quality of our handcrafted wedding albums.

Of course when Karra stopped by the studio after her wedding, she saw our glass album cover and everything changed. She decided to go with a large album and our custom glass album cover along with this amazingly beautiful leather. The leather has their perfect texture to it that really needs to be touched. To go along with the full size album, we also made a pair of parent albums in a slightly smaller format for both Karra and Jared's parents.

Their wedding at Paradise Springs was a stunning affair and these handmade albums capture everything from the day so perfectly in a piece of art. You can click through here to see the full album design here or stop by our studio to hold our other sample albums.

Just a quick preview tonight of Lisa and Roger's wedding in Yosemite. The trees were simply blazing with fall color in celebration of their wedding and Lisa and Roger brought the heat. So much more love coming soon!

Jennifer and Matt planned to have their wedding standing in the midst of the giant redwoods in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite. They are both in the service and met while in a class on unexploded ordinances; not not exactly your normal meeting place, but love is not limited. That's something that I learned very quickly with Jennifer and Matt; love is in amazing places.

After meeting with them near the trailhead in the Mariposa Grove, we headed out on what was planned to be a short hike before the ceremony to photograph Jennifer and Matt in the Mariposa Grove. Before too long everyone would be meeting near the shuttle for a ride up the hill to the cabin where the ceremony would be, and we needed to be back in time. Riding the tram up the hill sounded like a much better idea hiking through the snow and mud the entire mile and a half.

Of course when you're hiking uphill with two members of the military you just don't turn back. We had been hiking and stopping to take photographs for about forty minutes before we looked at our watches to make a decision on what to do next. We assumed that we had covered nearly a mile, which meant that we were closer to the top than the bottom - why not press on? And so we did, Jennifer and Matt being amazing troopers hiking up through mud and snow as we made our way to the top. Every new turn revealed amazing sights, grand vistas and staggeringly huge trees. And somehow, the hike that that only supposed to be a mile and a half ended up being considerably longer.

Finally at the top of our hike we found Jennifer and Matt's loved ones waiting for us near the cabin. It was as if I had just joined them on one final journey together before they joined each other in marriage. Each step along the way Jennifer and Matt held each other in love.

Matt's brother officiated the ceremony in perfect simplicity that put all of the focus square on Jennifer and Matt. There they stood, on the top of the ridge with a snowy meadow full of redwoods stretched out before them and surrounded by their friends and family. The love in the air was evident on each individual face.

Of course this late in the afternoon, and with the unexcited cold weather, the temperature began to drop quickly in the shade of the trees. After the ceremony we quickly photographed the families together and this time boarded the tram for a quick ride back down the hill. At that point, we parted ways. They were all headed back down into Oakhurst for a family dinner and a few more days together in bliss.

Last night we opened our studio doors to a constant flow of trick or treaters, but not just for candy. We asked everyone that came by to step inside of a quick portrait in their Halloween costume and the response was amazing! For half of the night there was a line out the door as excited families waited for their turn. We were able to meet so many good people and create an amazing collection of photographs from the night. If you stopped by last night, thank you so much for making it all possible!

You can see all of the photographs over on our Facebook Page (there are two albums of photographs), so hop on over there and check them all out. If we took your photograph last night, make sure you tag yourself and make sure you read about the contest to win a free portrait session.

If you are interested in purchasing prints from Halloween, enter your contact information here and we will let you know as soon as the photographs are available for purchase.

Happy Halloween!
